Happy Summer Reading!

It's the WFL TWEEN/TEEN/YA programs!
Kids between 11 and 18 are welcome to join us for programs geared toward their interests!!
10/24 MONSTER MASH: A Big Ryan Traveling Mystery Adventure
Discover your lineage! Are you a Vampire, Werewolf, or Witch?
Once discovered, you'll be tasked to earn enough doubloons - by doing tricky tasks and solving mind-tickling games - to purchase your clan totem. The totems, once put together, allow you to become the leader of your clan. Be the first to finish and win!
This program will be preceded by a PIZZA party (6-6:30pm), the mystery will run from 6:30-7:30pm, and will be followed by Halloween Treat Bags for the participants. Participants are encouraged to come in costume.
Please note that Vampires, Werewolves, and Witches must be a minimum of 11 years of age and socially/emotionally ready to work in tandem with tweens/teens within a diverse age range.
This FREE program, but registration is required HERE.
This program is sponsored by the FRIENDS of the Wareham Free Library.

NEWS ALERT!
Now in its second year, The New York Public Library's National Teen Banned Book Club shines a spotlight on YA books that have been banned or challenged, and invites teens across the country to read together. Each title comes with free downloadable discussion materials and access to YA authors for schools, libraries, and community book groups so we can have positive and meaningful conversations about young adult literature, identity, censorship, and more. Learn more.
This year's Teen Banned Book Club focuses on graphic novels. Each book club culminates in an online author talk made available to watch anytime
This information has been taken directly from (Teen Banned Book Club at NYPL | the New York Public Library, n.d.).
How the challenge works (for families):
Students and families can choose a book that fits the monthly challenge.
Local libraries and independent bookstores are great places to seek recommendations! See if your school, library, bookstore, or other community organization is participating by searching through the Reading Partners list below.
Each month, the student (and parent/guardian if student is under 13) can fill out a short form to tell us about the book.
Mass Center for the Book will run drawings for prizes. Monthly participation determines eligibility.
Have fun!
This is a FUN challenge and anyone can participate! We'd LOVE to hear your feedback and recommendations if you would like to "sound off" about any of your choices.
