What is the Wareham Library Foundation

The Wareham Library Foundation was established in 2007 to accept, hold and manage donations and bequests to the Wareham Free Library in support of the library’s long term needs.

What does the Foundation do with the funds it receives?

The Wareham Library Foundation Inc. is a non-profit, charitable corporation formed in 2007 to raise and invest funds to support our public library in Wareham. The Foundation maintains a strong tradition of community philanthropic support, which dates back to the turn of the 20th century, when local citizens first established the Wareham Free Library.

Who oversees the Foundation?

The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of members from the Wareham community

Are Contributions to the Foundation deductible?

Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. The Foundation is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as 501(c)(3) organization. 

Can donations or bequests be made for a specific reason?

Yes, donations or bequests can be made for specific purposes, for example,  your gift can be directed to furnishings, building renovations or library materials. One particularly satisfying way to give is to make a donation or bequest in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one who was or is an avid reader or frequent user of the Library.

How can I include Wareham Library Foundation in my will?

Your will can bequeath a stated sum or percentage of your estate by specifically mentioning the Wareham Library Foundation. For instance, your will could state ”I hereby bequeath ten percent (10%) of the residue of my estate to the Wareham Library Foundation located in Wareham, Massachusetts, for its general uses and purposes.”
