Members of the Friends are those citizens who regard the library as a vital information and community agency, a cultural center, and a major education institution. They know that a community is a better place in which to live if it has an excellent library. The Friends organization was begun in 1976 when the library was located in the Tobey Library on High Street by a group of mothers that brought their children to the library regularly.
Through a program of volunteer, promotional, and fund-raising activities, the Friends help acquire important materials and equipment beyond the confines of the library's regular operating budget. The Friends also organize and support cultural and community activities for the citizens of Wareham, and help to inform the community of the library's resources, services and needs.
Anyone can become a member of the Friends of the Wareham Free Library. Stop by the library for a membership form, or message us through Facebook.
