FAQ's

Can I check the library's catalogue from my home computer?
Yes!  Using the number from the back of your library card (your User I.D.) and your PIN (usually the last four digits of your telephone number), you can access the card catalogue, your account, and you can place books on hold from anywhere in our library system. Start at the web site www.sailsinc.org and follow the directions on the screen. Call the library if you need to verify your PIN number.  508-295-2343 extension 1011.

Can I get a book that is not listed in the online catalogue?
The Virtual Catalog connects patrons with other libraries in the state. Choose the Virtual Catalog tab on the first page of the iBistron search screen. You will be asked for your User ID.  You may then search for your item. In addition, the Reference Desk staff would be glad to search for any book you wish. Through the Interlibrary Loan system (ILL), we can access items from all over the world. Please call for assistance with these options at 508-295-2343 exten. 1012.

How can I renew my books?
Please call the Main Desk at 508-295-2343 extension 1011 for assistance with renewals.  You may also log into your library account on the SAILS website using your User ID and Pin number. Your User ID is the number on the back of your library card.  Your PIN number is the last four digits of your telephone number.

This will allow you to review the items you  have checked out and renew them.  You may also see the items you have placed on hold.

When is the next used book sale?
Friends of the Library Book Sales are held the fourth Saturday of most months from 10 to 1:30 PM. There is no sale on the 4th Saturday of November, December or June. The Annual Sale is held the second Saturday in July and the Holiday Sale is the first Saturday in December.

How do I apply for a library card?
Please complete a library card application and present it at the Main Desk with picture identification showing a local mailing address.

How can I get help with genealogy and local history research?
Reference Staff members in the Stone Research Room are available to assist you with local history and genealogy questions. It is recommended to call 508-295-2343 extension 1007 to set up an appointment.  This appointment will allow the library staff to do some preliminary research and set time aside for your visit.   If you drop by, we will be glad to acquaint you with the materials and answer general questions as staffing permits.

The hours of the Stone Room are as follows:
Wednesday - 9:30 am to 5 pm
